Pendulum Sonitum

Push, watch and listen…

The idea for the pendulum was inspired by the space between these old trees. It looked ideal for an interactive sound object. The pendulum was made of wood, and both hollow parts were filled with scrap iron. While the trees were growing in a little distance to the next path, the pendulum was painted in an signal orange color, to be found more easily. It was pulled up and fixed by a rope between these two large trees. Once pushed, the pendulum started swinging, turning and rotating around the fixing points, sometimes colliding with one of the trees. The movement and the collisions produced sound by sliding and shaking of the metal pieces inside the pendulum’s corpus.

There are no better pictures and no pictures of the final installation. Sorry, try use your imagination, it might work.
